All you need to know about the Ignis

Added: 27 November 2018

The Suzuki Ignis range offers all the benefits of a bigger vehicle in a compact, easy-to-run car. The Ignis is a perfect example of the Japanese manufacturer doing what it does best: small cars that look good and give you what you need.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Suzuki Ignis.

It’s one of the smallest cars you can buy

The Suzuki Ignis is everything you want a city car to be. At a mere 3.7 metres in length, 1.69 metres in width and 1.6 metres in height, it’s one of the most compact cars around. Its impressive size makes it not just one of the smallest Suzuki cars you can buy, but one of the most city-ready cars on the market.

It borrows traits from its larger counterparts

Even though the Suzuki Ignis is the perfect city car, it’s not restricted to perfectly paved roads and slow speeds. Borrowing traits from its bigger brothers, the Ignis combines elements of both Suzuki’s popular small cars and its larger 4x4s to create a vehicle that won’t hold you back. If you add in the optional Suzuki Allgrip all-wheel drive system, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the Ignis for a small SUV.

The engine is surprisingly powerful

Even though the Ignis only comes with one engine option, don’t think you’ll be restricted. The economical 89bhp 1.2 litre four-cylinder Dualjet petrol engine helps to keep costs down without leading to any lack in efficiency. The 48-volt mild hybrid system adds electrical assistance during acceleration, but both options are more than enough given the vehicles incredibly light 810kg weight.

You can enjoy a cleaner drive than before

First seen in the Suzuki Baleno, the mild hybrid Ignis makes use of a belt-driven integrated starter/generator and a second lithium ion battery, which comes as standard on the new Ignis SZ5 manual models. The Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) offers a more environmentally friendly drive by reducing CO2 emissions and providing greater fuel efficiency.

It’s hard to beat when it comes to value for money

The Suzuki Ignis is one of the most cost-efficient vehicles around. Offering both an affordable city car that may just be the best in its class and very affordable running costs, it’s hard to beat the Suzuki Ignis when it comes to getting value for money. Upgraded safety features

The Ignis may be small in size but it’s big on keeping you and your passengers safe. The new Suzuki Ignis comes equipped with air bags for both the driver and front passenger, as well as side and curtain air bags. The side impact protection beams and ISOFIX child seat settings add an extra level of protection to everybody on board.
