The third generation Suzuki Jimny was around for two whole decades, but the new fourth generation Jimny has now arrived - and it was worth the wait. Here’s everything you need to know about the all new Suzuki Jimny to help you decide if it’s the right car for you.
A new Jimny with the same old functional design
Although the new 2019 Jimny has had an upgrade, it’s still the same functional off-roader at heart. That means you can expect the same sturdy build in the all-new model, from the robust
ladder frame to the impressive torque and traction.
It will take you where other 4x4s won’t
The new Suzuki Jimny packs a powerful 4WD system into a compact design. That means it has all the power to take you wherever you wish to go, whatever the terrain. Unlike other 4x4 vehicles, its size won’t hold you back. In fact, its lightness and compact build are two of its greatest features, making the Jimny even more versatile than other SUVs and off-roaders.
A better body and ample clearance
While the all new Jimny is the same reliable car at heart, it’s now better than ever. One of the most noticeable changes in the 2019 Suzuki Jimny is the newly optimised body shape and design.
While the flat bonnet improves visibility, it’s the improved body angles that give it a new level of versatility. With the ample departure angle, ramp breakover angle and approach angle, the new Suzuki Jimny is ready to take on steeper slopes than ever before without causing any damage to the underbody.
It’s available in manual and automatic
The new Suzuki Jimny comes in two variations: the Suzuki Jimny SZ4 and the Suzuki Jimny SZ5. The former is the entry level variation and is available with a manual gearbox. If you prefer an automatic, the SZ5 comes with the option of a manual or automatic gearbox. Both trims will give you all the speed you need, with the five-speed manual Jimny reaching up to 90mph and the four-speed automatic Jimny claiming a top speed of 87mph.
It’s safer than ever before
The all new Jimny is the first Suzuki vehicle to include traffic sign detection technology. It’s one of many new safety features that you’ll find the in the new Jimny, along with others such as automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning.
The standard equipment has had an upgrade
When it comes to the equipment and interior, the new Suzuki Jimny has everything you’d expect. Suzuki is a brand known for its thoughtful cars and, with its newest update, the Suzuki Jimny is no different. Its chunky dashboard includes a 7 inch infotainment screen that’s easy to use and can even be operated with gloves on - a dashboard for a true adventurer.
The real winning feature, though, is the fact that the entire instrument panel and its surroundings are finished with a scratch- and stain-resistant finish. It’s just another way that the Suzuki Jimny proves its credentials as a car made with the driver in mind and a car that will last as long as you want it to.
The new 2019 Suzuki Jimny went on sale on New Year’s Day in the UK, and is now available to buy at Hilton Suzuki.
